Aerial Observation of Oil on Water Full Day Course
33 CFR 155, 33 CFR 154, and WAC 173-182 require oil spill contingency plan holders to have trained observation personnel to support oil spill operations. These observation personnel must be capable of recording and communicating information related to an oil spill back to a command post or field operations.
Leading Edge has developed a comprehensive 1-day course designed to train facility personnel and spill responders on the concepts needed to effectively record and communicate oil spill impacts, trajectory, and the effectiveness of oil spill operations. This course was designed to exceed federal and Washington State requirements for trained aerial observers. Any responder who may have the job requirement to track oil from the air, is in charge of aerial assets, or who needs to interpret aerial observer data stands to benefit from this course.
Course topics include:
Principles of Marine Oil Spills
Spill Response Operations
Sheen Types, Structure, and False Positives
Aerial Observation Equipment
Preparing and Delivering Work Products
